Following the Russian office closure, I relocated to Canada and started my new sales consultant role for our Airports and Parcel businesses. I didn’t have much experience in Airports prior to this, but I was open to learn and what better way than by attending the daily catch-ups with my team? However, these meetings started early, which was quite a shift from my previous routine in Russia.

“Goodbye to relaxed mornings, listening to music and eating breakfast with my daughter,” I thought. Although I soon began to see the meeting as my own personal “Vanderlande radio”. I could listen and learn while eating breakfast, preparing meals, and getting my daughter ready for childcare. We won’t mention the times I was asked a question and had to rush to come off mute, in the middle of a toddler tantrum or while something was burning on the stove!

Despite the initial challenges, I embraced the opportunity to learn from my colleagues and contribute to a sizeable airport project. And while I couldn’t change the meeting time to better suit my schedule, the experience taught me the art of multitasking. I was inspired by the efficiency and collaborative efforts of my colleagues, who seamlessly navigated complex project discussions as I navigated the most difficult job of all – mornings with a toddler!
