The customer seemed quite desperate: there was no “hello”, or even a polite introduction, just: “The entire system is at a standstill!.” So I said: “This is Torben Kowitz from Vanderlande – how can I help you?” And he replied, “The entire system is at a standstill!”

I asked him to try to calm down and give me more details, but he continued to make the same statement over and over. By this time, he’d convinced me that the system was at a standstill! I kept asking him questions, but I was only getting some basic information back.

I noticed that it was noisy in the background and asked why? It was then that he said it was the system running, even though he had been telling me… well, you know by now!

He explained that there was only one picking station not working… fast enough! So I was able to restart this part of the system quickly and that fixed the whole problem!

In fact it really helped me to grow and become a team leader and then a group leader ̶ and recently the manager of the 1st Level team in Dortmund, Germany and Veghel, the Netherlands. So, when someone asks me today how I am, I can reply truthfully that I’m living the dream…
