I visited more than 60 countries in 25 years
In the 25 years that I have worked at Vanderlande now, the company has grown from 800 to almost 10,000…
In April 2019, during my first interview with Vanderlande in Bahrain, I was asked if I was single and replied, “Yes, and I have no immediate plans to start a family.” These were famous last words, because that week I met my future wife, Nour, back home in Jordan.
Although I didn’t join Vanderlande until August, my notice period was a good opportunity to get to know my new girlfriend. We got engaged in November and our wedding was planned for July 2020.
When COVID struck, Bahrain announced that the airports would close. I sent a message to my boss, asking if I would be able to travel to Jordan before lockdown. Even though it was 1am, he replied and said that he had no issues with me working from home, which I really appreciated.
Nour and I eventually got married in September and moved to Bahrain at the start of 2021, and now have two kids, Daniella and baby Carlos.
I believe it was my destiny that I was able to build my family life and my work family with Vanderlande at the same time. I will never forget the support that I got from my manager and how amazing he was with everything. He even sent us gifts when we got engaged and the children were born – it’s these small touches that made a huge impact on me.
Embarking on my family journey and a new job – with colleagues who care – have been truly heart-warming experiences.
