Fortunately, when I was being interviewed at Vanderlande, I felt like I was at the start – and not the end – of my journey. This made such a difference and gave me a much-needed confidence boost. I also found that the company was not just talking about diversity and inclusion, but actually believed in it.

My first instincts were correct, as I’ve always been able to progress up the career ladder. In doing so, I’ve embraced any opportunities offered to me over the past seven years.

After only 18 months, I was promoted to lead a team of 18 engineers – with mentoring and support from senior management. Since then I’ve continued to grow in confidence, and feel that I’ve lived up to expectations.

There is a strong culture at Vanderlande and everyone is encouraged to benefit from it. I am now part of the culture team – which takes the voice of the people to higher management – and find it very rewarding.

You can also give your views openly, and you are trusted to get on with your job. There is no stress at work and I have a perfect work-life balance. I’m free to do what I can – when I can – and even enjoy working out of hours.

Vanderlande has taken care of my personal and professional growth. I always talk passionately about the company with my colleagues, and even my friends and family – so much so that my daughter wants to be an engineer, and only to work for Vanderlande!
