After a full week of visiting companies and talking about subcontracting, joint ventures and build-operate-transfer constructions, it was decided that we would set up our own controls engineering office in India. I called it “VOICE”, which stands for: Vanderlande Office Centre of Engineering. We found Willem Thielsch willing to take the lead in setting up the office facilities and the local organization in Pune. It was a hell of a job, but in February 2009 we celebrated the opening of the new office in a traditional Hindu ceremony.
