Having never traveled further than Greece for a summer holiday, I had to mentally process this question. Hong Kong, 3 years, living and working there. That would be a slightly different life than commuting every day from Uden to Veghel. After some kitchen table conversations with my wife Inez, we concluded: why not? So, we took the leap and went to work and live in Hong Kong as one of the first expats of Vanderlande.

What an experience! A different culture, working 6 days a week, traveling to work by boat and enjoying nice holidays in Thailand, China and New Zealand.

In Hong Kong I experienced for the first time the ‘can do’ mentality of Vanderlande and how important it is that you can rely on and trust your colleagues. With only a few Vanderlande people on site we had to make it happen together.

Looking back, it was a decision we will never regret and an experience we will never forget.

One picture shows Jos and Carin Everaarts, Steve Bolton, Inez and myself in front of our site office at Chek Lap Kok. The other picture shows me celebrating my 28th birthday in the site office with Henry Caba, our planner.
